Evan brought his favorite pencil to school.
It was sharp, smooth, and easy to write with.
During class, he used it for his work and placed it on his desk.
Later, when the teacher asked students to begin the next activity, Evan reached for his pencil, but it was gone.
He looked around his desk, inside his backpack, and even on the floor.
“Did someone take it?” he wondered, starting to feel frustrated.
His classmate said, “Check where you were sitting before.”
Evan thought about it and remembered moving to another table earlier.
He walked back and saw his pencil lying near the edge of the table.
He picked it up and smiled.
Next time, Evan decided to keep his pencil in his bag when he wasn’t using it.
