I LAUGH AT MY OWN JOKES

Summary:
Some people say the best part of telling a joke is hearing others laugh, but for you, the best part is laughing at yourself. It doesn’t matter if the joke is actually funny—sometimes you can’t help it. Today in class, you made a silly comment, and while your classmates just stared at you, you burst out laughing at your own words. The teacher gave you a small smile, but a few students rolled their eyes, clearly not impressed. Still, you didn’t feel embarrassed. In fact, you thought it was even funnier that no one else laughed. Later, while talking with a friend, you tried another joke. Again, you laughed so hard at yourself that you could barely finish telling it. Your friend shook their head, saying you’re the only person they know who can laugh that much at their own humor. You don’t mind—you believe life is better when you can find joy in small things, even if you’re the only one laughing. You grab your phone to text about it, knowing someone will tease you for it.

Your Text:
“Okay, I can’t help it—I laugh at my own jokes every time. Even if no one else laughs, I still think I’m hilarious.”

Your Task:
Write your response text. Share how you feel about laughing at your own jokes and whether you wish others laughed along too.

Read the response first and then listen to the audio if necessary.

Their Audio Response (Receiver):
“Haha, that’s so you. Honestly, I think it’s kind of great—you always find a way to make yourself smile. Do you ever wish people laughed with you, though?”
