When the Cat Wore Boots
Robbie had always known his cat, Daisy, was different. Daisy liked wearing clothes. Not just small sweaters, but real human clothes. Robbie’s boots, his dad’s shirts, his mom’s scarves—Daisy wore them all.
One morning, Robbie shouted, “Mom, she’s doing it again!” Daisy walked into the kitchen wearing his Superman underwear, one leg through the wrong hole, and black boots clomping on the floor.
“Oh, Daisy,” his mom said, trying not to laugh. “Why can’t you be a normal cat?”
Daisy didn’t care. She posed dramatically, flicked her tail, and meowed proudly as if to say, “Normal is boring.”
The School Incident
Daisy once followed Robbie to school. She snuck out the door wearing a tiny blue cape and his black boots. She trotted into the classroom, clomping loudly behind him.
“Robbie, is that your cat?” Mrs. Fletcher asked, both surprised and amused.
“No,” Robbie said, sinking into his seat. “I’ve never seen her before.”
Daisy jumped onto the desk, spun in her boots, and plopped down on the test papers. The class laughed loudly. Robbie wanted to disappear.
Other Daisy Disasters
Daisy caused trouble everywhere:
She went to a neighbor’s barbecue in Mom’s yoga pants and a glittery top.
At Christmas, she wore Dad’s tie and climbed the tree. “I’m the star now!” she seemed to say.
At the park, she wore a tracksuit and Robbie’s tennis shoes, racing children and taking selfies.
Acceptance and a Wardrobe of Her Own
At first, the family tried to stop Daisy. They locked closets and hid clothes, but Daisy didn’t stop. She wanted real clothes.
Finally, the family gave in. “She’s not hurting anyone,” Mom said. “Why not let her be herself?”
They bought Daisy her own wardrobe. She had tiny sweaters, mini jackets, and even sunglasses. Robbie’s mom even took her to a nail salon for paw-dicures. Daisy lounged and purred while getting her claws painted.
Robbie still thought it was silly, especially when Daisy wore a sequined gown to his soccer game. “She’s stealing my spotlight,” he grumbled.
But deep down, Robbie had to admit Daisy was special. “At least she keeps life interesting,” he said, watching her pose for tourists at the park.
