Everyday Situations
The Situation
You are asked a question unexpectedly in a public or personal situation.
You weren’t prepared, and you don’t fully understand why the question is being asked.
From the brief explanation, you learn that something unexpected came up — a misunderstanding, a complaint, a missing detail, or a concern. You are being asked to respond on the spot, without time to prepare.
The person asking the questions appears serious. Others may be listening. You feel slightly caught off guard. You are expected to respond clearly and calmly. Long pauses or emotional reactions may make the situation worse.
Your Task
Respond immediately and appropriately.
You do not have all the details, but you are still required to respond.
It is acceptable to ask for clarification or express surprise politely.
