MY GOOD OLE’ FRIEND

Summary:
You arranged a day of fun and relaxation with a longtime friend. They do have the habit of showing up late to every place they go, but you thought that since it would be a fun date with them, they might finally show up on time. You arrive at the park ten minutes early only to find that your friend is nowhere to be found. You decide not to text right away, thinking it’s polite to give them at least 15 minutes. An hour passes, and you are still alone on the bench. The sun is warm, kids are playing, but your excitement has faded into frustration. You wonder if you should have expected this, since you knew about their habit of being late. Still, this is your good friend, and you want to know what happened.

Your Text:
“Hey! Where are you? I’ve been waiting here at the park for over an hour now.”

Your Task:
Write your response text. Share what you would say back to your friend. Try to express both your feelings and your decision.

Read the response first and then listen to the audio if necessary.

Their Audio Response (Receiver):
“Hey, I’m really sorry. I overslept and just woke up a little while ago. I feel terrible for making you wait so long. I’m getting ready now, but it might take me at least another 30 minutes to get there. Do you want me to still come, or should we reschedule?”
