The Process That Slowed Down
An established process had been running efficiently across multiple teams, with clearly defined steps and predictable timelines. Over time, minor adjustments were introduced to address specific concerns, each intended to improve accuracy or reduce risk. Individually, the changes appeared manageable.
As additional steps were added, the process became more detailed. Reviews were extended, approvals required additional confirmation, and documentation increased. While each adjustment served a purpose, the cumulative effect began to alter the pace of execution.
Teams continued to follow the updated structure, though variations in timing became more noticeable. Some stages required more coordination than before, and delays began to occur in areas that had previously been consistent.
During internal reviews, the process was described as thorough, though questions were raised about efficiency. Comparisons with earlier timelines highlighted differences, but no elements of the process were formally removed or revised.
The process remained in place, with all current steps continuing to be followed.
