The Class Poster
Four students were preparing a poster for their evening class. They had thirty minutes left before they needed to present it. Mia wanted to add several pictures, two charts, long explanations, and headings in three different colors.
Rob looked at the crowded poster. “I think we might be going overboard,” he said.
Mia stepped back and studied their work. “I just want it to look complete. I don’t want the teacher to think we left anything out.”
Dena picked up the assignment sheet. “The directions ask for one short explanation and two examples. We already have more than we need.”
Sam looked at the clock. “We also need to keep an eye on the time. We still have to practice our presentation.”
Mia sighed. “So, you think we should cut back?”
“Only a little,” Rob replied. “Your ideas aren’t bad. We just need to stick to the directions and make the main information easy to see.”
Mia agreed. She removed one chart and shortened the longest paragraph. Dena moved the two examples under the main heading, while Sam prepared their notes.
When they finished, the poster looked cleaner and easier to read. The group still had ten minutes to practice before presenting it to the class.
