Shopping Online or in a Store
READ
Buying a new pair of shoes can begin with a trip to a store or a search on a phone. Both methods allow shoppers to compare choices, but the experience is different. A person who enjoys walking through a store may approach the purchase differently from someone who wants to finish shopping during a short break.
Online shopping makes it possible to look at many products without traveling. Shoppers can compare sizes, colors, descriptions, and customer comments. However, a photograph cannot show exactly how a shoe feels. Delivery also takes time, and returning an item may require packing it and taking it somewhere.
In a store, shoppers can touch materials, try things on, and ask questions. They can usually take their purchase home immediately. The store may have fewer choices, though, and the right size might be unavailable. Getting there also requires time and transportation.
Some people combine the two methods. They research a product online and then visit a store to see it. Others examine something in person before ordering the color they prefer. The best experience for a particular shopper may depend on the item, how soon it is needed, and how comfortable the shopper feels buying it without seeing it first.
VIEWPOINT ONE
I would rather shop online for most things. I can compare products when I have time, and I don't feel rushed by other shoppers. I read the return instructions before buying anything. For me, that extra preparation is worth the convenience.
VIEWPOINT TWO
Online shopping works for things I already know, but I prefer a store for unfamiliar products. Pictures can leave me with the wrong impression. I would rather spend time checking an item before buying it than spend time returning it later.
