The Suggested Changes

Nora had spent several weeks designing a cover for a small collection of her photographs. Before sending it to a printer, she asked her friend Adrian to look at the layout. Adrian worked in design and had helped other people prepare similar projects. Nora wanted his opinion about the title size and spacing.
Adrian returned the file with a completely different cover. He had changed the main photograph, removed two colors, and moved Nora's name. He explained that his version looked more professional and would be easier to notice. Nora preferred her original image because it connected closely with the photographs inside.
The printer needed the final file by the next morning. Adrian said he had spent most of the previous evening making the changes and could adjust a few details before dinner. Nora had not asked for a full redesign, but she also knew that Adrian had more experience preparing covers.
When Nora mentioned keeping her original photograph, Adrian said the new layout depended on the replacement image. He asked her to decide quickly because he had other work waiting. Both versions were open on Nora's computer. A message from the printer arrived asking which file should be used for the sample copy.
