Scenario 05
The Shared Kitchen
READ
Daniel and Eric shared an apartment with a small kitchen. Daniel usually cooked early and cleaned his dishes before leaving for an evening class. Eric arrived home later and often prepared dinner after Daniel had gone. They had agreed to keep the main counter clear because there was little space.
During the past week, Daniel had found Eric's dishes in the sink each morning. Eric explained that his workdays had become longer and that he planned to wash everything during the weekend. He did not think a few dishes should affect Daniel because clean plates were still available.
Daniel used the sink to wash vegetables and fill a large pot. Moving Eric's dishes meant handling leftover food and rearranging the counter. He had cleaned them twice already, although he had not told Eric how much that bothered him.
On Friday, Eric brought home ingredients for several meals he wanted to prepare at once. He placed the bags on the remaining clear counter and asked Daniel to move his notebook from the kitchen table. Daniel had planned to prepare his own dinner before class. The sink was full again, and Eric was explaining that cooking several meals would save him time during the coming week.
