A Different Afternoon

Maya and Claire had arranged to spend Sunday afternoon walking through a public garden. Maya had been looking forward to a quiet visit with her friend. Claire had recently started taking photographs and wanted to bring her camera. Maya said that sounded fine.
At the entrance, Claire explained that she hoped to photograph Maya in several parts of the garden. She had brought an extra bag with a scarf and a jacket for Maya to wear. Claire wanted different looks for a photography exercise and thought the garden would be an ideal setting.
Maya had expected a walk, not a photo session. She was wearing comfortable clothes and did not feel like posing. Claire said the pictures would take only a little time, although her list included eight locations. She also mentioned that she planned to show the photographs in her class.
Maya suggested walking first, but Claire pointed out that the light near the entrance was changing. She took the scarf from her bag and held it beside Maya's shoulder. Several people were waiting to use the same area. Claire asked Maya to stand near a bench while she adjusted her camera. Maya still had her walking map folded in her hand.
