BBC Council English - paid plans only. Be careful because the wording on Google says BBC Learning English when in fact it’s BBC Council English.
BBC Learning English - Nabi Approved 👍👍👍 I approve it because it’s FREE. As far as I know. I saw no request for payment. Some videos had a mix of British and American voices. Downloading transcripts and audio is available. This site has a lot of benefits for free.
VOA Learning English - Nabi Approved! 👍👍👍👍👍 I say this right out of the gate. Why? Because it’s 100% American English. It’s set up is very simple and easy to use for everyone. It’s all Video/Audio based but for Beginners you get great videos. For Intermediate and Advanced, you get a picture/image, recording and a transcript. If I could have don’t this, I would have but they did it first. I love it!
ESL Library Free Lessons - 👍I have this one here even though it’s Teacher/Tutor based. Not for individuals. Those who have a hard time thinking of what to do and their teaching young ones or new beginners - this is a great site. It is paid so it gets one thumb, but it is worth it I think because of their American English, Editable Flashcards and loads of other benefits. Just know that many will copy off of the name. Duolingo - I use this for Korean at times. It’s very slow. But it’s good especially for beginners. There’s a cost to some things so be aware. No thumbs just because you don’t have control. You’re following whatever is presented whether you need it or not.
ESL Fast - Tutor based for teaching and has some Fake links. X
Elllo.org (English Listening Library Online) Nabi Approved! 👍👍For this one I did approve but the reason I gave it two thumbs is because it a mixture of English from all over the world. So, you get some accents and some pronunciation that may be influenced by the person’s native tongue. But overall, I love the fact that you can watch the person’s mouth move as they talk which can help you shadow their words. Just not 100% native English.
TED-Ed (TED Talks for Learners) - I do like this but is video based and it’s good for listening skills. You might check it out. But from what I heard it was American English. So, for this I’m saying Nabi Approved! 👍👍👍👍
HowDoYouSayThatWord.com - A little confusing was my first impression. Neat concept, very simple but not sure. I couldn’t seem to find something that I could use. But there is a contact form to request a word. By whom and how, I’m not sure. I need to try it one more time. Maybe I’m just tire. If you could request a list of words and they would post them with the audio that would be great. Phrases?? I’m not sure.
I stopped here for now. I really want to make sure I search through each and give you my honest opinion. If you use any of the ones from this list or if you have one, you’re using that is not listed, let me know and I’ll check it out and add it to the list.
