Small Business Owners
The Situation
You are asked to join a meeting without notice. You were told it involves “a business concern,” but no details were given.
From the introduction, you learn that an issue was raised involving a recent decision that affected customers, staff, or finances. Someone questioned whether the decision was appropriate or sustainable.
An accountant or advisor is present. Someone involved in daily operations is listening. A partner, investor, or senior staff member may also be present.
You run the business, but you don’t yet know which decision is being questioned. You are expected to respond clearly and confidently. Hesitation may be seen as lack of direction or uncertainty.
Your Task
Respond immediately and professionally.
You do not have all the details, but you are still required to respond.
Avoid sounding defensive or overwhelmed.
