The Broken Crayon

Aiden was coloring a picture during class.

He was carefully filling in a large section with his favorite crayon.

He wanted it to look neat, so he pressed down harder to make the color darker.

Suddenly, the crayon snapped in half.

“Oh no,” he said quietly.

He looked at the broken pieces in his hand and felt disappointed.

It was his favorite color, and now it was shorter and harder to hold.

For a moment, he stopped working and stared at his paper.

Then he picked up both pieces and tried coloring again.

Even though the crayon was smaller, it still worked.

He adjusted how he held it and continued his picture.

When he finished, his drawing looked complete.

As the teacher walked by, she said, “That looks great.”

Aiden smiled and realized he didn’t need to stop just because something went wrong.
