Apostrophe (’) - Shows possession or creates contractions.
That’s my seat. (= That is)
It’s cold today. (= It is)
Sarah’s phone is ringing. (possessive)
Quotation Marks (“ ”) - Show someone’s exact words.
She said, “I’ll be there soon.”
“Hello,” he whispered.
“Be quiet,” the teacher said.
Colon (:) - Introduces a list, explanation, or quote.
Bring these items: a pen, paper, and glue.
She has one goal: win the race.
Remember: always check your work.
Semicolon (;) - Connects two related sentences or separates complex list items.
I was tired; I still finished the job.
He likes tea; she prefers coffee.
The team is large; however, they work well together.
