What is an Adjective Phrase?

An adjective phrase is a group of words that describes a noun. It usually answers: What kind? Which one? How many?

Where Does It Appear?

Usually right after the noun it describes.

Examples:

  • The book on the top shelf is mine.

  • She wore a dress with bright red flowers.

  • I saw a dog covered in mud.

(In all examples, the adjective phrase describes the noun.)
