What is a Phrasal Verb?
A phrasal verb is a verb + one or more particles (prepositions or adverbs) that create a new meaning.
How To Recognize One?
The meaning is often different from the base verb.
Some are separable (“turn it off”)
some are inseparable (“look after someone”).
Examples:
Please turn off the lights.
(turn + off = stop electricity)
I’ll look after your dog.
(take care of)
He gave up eating sweets.
(quit)
