A gerund is a verb + -ing that acts like a noun in a sentence. It can be the subject, object, or complement in a sentence.
Examples of Gerunds in Sentences
1. As the Subject of a Sentence
Swimming is good exercise.

Walking is relaxing.
2. As the Object of a Verb
(Some verbs are followed by a gerund.)
I enjoy cooking.
She stopped talking.
We finished cleaning the room.
3. After Prepositions
(A gerund always follows a preposition.)
He’s good at drawing.
We talked about leaving early.
She’s interested in learning Spanish.
